When guests want a proper night out rather than a quiet evening by the fire, we send them to The Curious Brewery in Ashford. It’s an award-winning independent brewery — UK Brewer of the Year and a gold medal at the World Beer Awards — with a first-floor taproom and restaurant that looks straight down over the brewing tanks below. You can drink the beer literally as fresh as it gets, straight from the tank, alongside a menu of seasonal, locally inspired dishes.
It’s a smart, buzzy space rather than a traditional pub, all exposed brick and glass, and it’s a genuine change of pace from the countryside quiet of the barn. Brewery tours run throughout the year if you want to see how it’s all made before you drink it, finishing with a tasting of the beer and cider range.
It’s a short drive from us and just two minutes’ walk from Ashford International station, so it works well as an evening out or a stop on the way to or from London. Go on a Friday or Saturday night for the best atmosphere, or book the tour for a quieter, more informative visit earlier in the day.
